How do I
Identify the Correct Sender of spam?
In order to stop spam you must properly block it, but
first you must identify
who sent it. Unfortunately it is not as easy as viewing the
return email address. If you were to reply to the email below
it would reply to
which is the INCORRECT sender of the
email. Following the steps below will show how to find the CORRECT sender of the email. |
Step 1. Open the email in Eudora, Outlook or
Netscape .
Step
2. For Eudora: Click the "blah
blah blah" button to display the full header information.

For Outlook: Select the View drop down menu
and select "All headers"(make sure it is CHECKED).

For Netscape: Select View Headers select
ALL (make sure all has a dot next to it)

Step 3. Choose to forward the email. (you are not
actually forwarding the message, but rather displaying the header
info). The email address
Step 4. That will display information similar to the image
below. The email information in the red
box is the CORRECT sender of the
spam. The email address is blue
is an alias and the INCORRECT sender of
the spam.

Step 5. The information in the red box shows the true identity of the sender.
